SUPER STANG FEST
Daytona Beach, FL
June 5-9, 2007

Story and Photos by Joe Greeves

It was billed as one of the largest Mustang events on the East Coast for 2007, and we think that, regardless of the size, the hundreds of Mustang owners who attended the inaugural Super Stang Fest will agree they had at least a month's worth of Pony-related fun squeezed into the week-long get together. The Daytona, Florida gathering began on Tuesday with drivers leaving their ponies in the corral and enjoying Family Go-Kart Night at Daytona's Speed Park Motorsports. Wednesday was a special cruise to Sea World, Orlando with discount rates sweetening the deal. Although the Wednesday evening adventure at the Orlando Dragway fell victim to Florida's liquid sunshine, event organizers created a Dyno Tune party instead with almost forty drivers opting for an accurate readout of their latest performance adders. Hooters in Daytona hosted the late evening blowout with a capacity crowd of 105 Mustangs dominating the parking lot. Thursday's action was scheduled for Daytona USA, but out of respect for the passing of NASCAR founder Bill France, the visit was rescheduled for Friday.

Mustang owners got a chance to cruise the sand on Daytona's famous beach, pose for Mustang calendar shots, and participate in the Super Stang Fest Bikini Contest at Daytona's Ocean Deck. The contest winners will be on the cover of the upcoming Stang Fest calendar.

Fnsweet, the independent community of Roush vehicle enthusiasts, held their get together at the Hampton Inn Friday evening, giving fifty-five Roush enthusiasts a chance to meet, greet, and wander through the coolest parking lot in Daytona. Inside music, dancing, and an unlimited supply of pizza and soft drinks got the party started. At 7:30 that evening, Mustang owners (and everyone else on the East coast) got a special treat, with the launch of the Space Shuttle from Cape Canaveral, perfectly visible from the Hampton parking lot.

The five-day 2007 Stang Fest was an amazing effort with a huge turnout for a first-time show. Dynamic Promotions owners Deborah and Jason Miles from Charlotte, North Carolina have already established the Planning Committee for the 2008 event. Special thanks goes to the Platinum and Gold sponsors along with the dedicated staff who helped to create this amazing Mustang event.
